 Welcome to Robin Berrie, Santa Fe artist, of Berrie Beautiful Contemporary Art. My paintings are  are idiosyncratic and inevidably abstract and I am pleased to present my work, a series  of  oil paintings ...." The Painter's Dance, and" People in A Patterned World" tm

 Recent and past works over a five year span,  include impressionistic and patterned collage expressions in oils and some acrylics on canvas. I have been known for my bright, vibrant colors and lately am painting architectural abstraction, with an interest in these abobe places probably because of my seventeen year residence here in New Mexico. I am originally from California,  but love the light and beauty of nature here in the "Land of Enchantment" .

 This Series, "A Patterned World"are  oils and acrylics are inspired from years of being a Massage Therapist at Elizabeth Arden in Beverly Hills on Rodeo Drive and also a Textile Designer in Los Angeles, CA .

 

My oil paintings and art  work are also influenced by the beauty of the light through the trees which you will see in my landscape paintings, and  I also have a compassion for symbolic imagery. My  landscape paintings are scenes from New Mexico, New York, California, Washington State, all places I have lived and shown my art. I listen to jazz music while painting and the great sounds of the saxaphone, and all jazz music for me, is like a dance on the canvas and inspires my brush strokes... creating fresh immediacy with each new painting.

 

The "Painter Dance" paintings have unique textural qualities, some impasto, as well as vivid colors which can play a unique visual sense with your eyes, making you feel like you may have been to some of these places. I am a Santa Fe , New Mexico artist, and my oil paintings can project the dance in the woods, or  the powerful force of a rushing stream ,or the canyons beautiful natural cuts in the mountains.

 

I, Robin Berrie,  have been an artist for over 35 years, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Textile Design from California College of the Arts, in Oakland California . I have sold my work extensively here in Santa Fe, New Mexico,  in private collections in

 Los Angeles and San Francisco, CA. and have won many awards for my work. My mediums include oils, encaustic, acrylics, marker, collage,and mixed media textiles, I create a variety of styles in my  paintings , as well as textile sculptures on canvas and have also been a professional silkscreener. I am influenced by Bonnard, Matisse and some of my previous art school instructors.

 Now living in Santa Fe as my home, the scenery, people, light and patterns of Northern New Mexico is a fantastic inspiration for my paintings.As a former acclaimed massage therapist,I  feel the body is also a work of art. Painting and massaging in my eyes, as an artist, are very much alike.... The dance, the movement,and the creativity all feel intertwined. A dance on the body or a dance on canvas , the grace,the rhythm, the movement all insires my works.
